GENERAL
REVIEW
Ben did his research, he
knew who R. L. Stevens was and knew our reputation, and so he
made the call. Ben came to R. L. Stevens as a very
successful sales representative. Unfortunately, to be
that success, it meant an average workweek of 60-70 hours.
He also missed his family with so much time spent on the road.
Ben needed a change, he needed a break. he wanted to
change his career path, but didn't want to have to "start over
at the bottom". He knew he had no idea how to accomplish
this on his own. Ben made a bold move prior to coming to
RLS: he quit his job.
Ben's
consultant worked on identifying what else he could do.
Working in sales, he dealt directly with supply chain
management and buyers: he knew their jobs inside and
out. Ben decided that was a field he would enjoy and
wanted to pursue. But he had no idea who would hire him
to do that; after all, he never held that title before.
Ben started
making contacts from our database. he routinely checked
the spot opportunity page of our client service center, and
our job opportunity database. After just a few short
weeks, Ben had made a contact in a very successful logistics
management company, where he received an interview. With
much preparation, Ben was confident he could "sell" his skill
set and convince the hiring manager that he had the skills for
this job, despite never holding the title. Ben said,
"All this preparation we did ahead of time really paid off.
I didn't know what I wanted to do, but knew I had to do
something different to save my family life and watch my kids
grow up. I knew it would be too difficult to sell myself
without some professional guidance. The resume you wrote
was amazing. Interview preparation was not like anything
I ever experienced. I felt so in control and relaxed.
That was a first for me. I used to be so nervous
interviewing; now I really enjoy it! I used everything
you taught me, and I am convinced I never would have found,
let alone land, this opportunity if it weren't for RLS!"
